the last guy ” yea we just advanced it , we took it to new levels ”
    is he kidding me?
they dumbed it down so much its only about how rich they are

  2. wolvez2 says:

i wish old rock, hip hop and all other music genres could be more like the old kind. its so stupid now.

There is no level in music.Music is art.In other words it is what it is ya dig?To opinionate on a piece of art is just that, an opinion.Todays rap is not being taken to any other “level” or new hieght.I do not dig mah man.To me most rap today is all cookie cutter drum loops, plastic women with contacts in their eyes who can’t rap to save their lives and talentless thugs talking about what they got. Rakim and Eric B. never cursed once in their songs!!! And he was voted the #1 rapper of all time.

I appreciate that brotha. And I mean it.I meet a lot of people during my work day. I chat with many teens and 20 year olds and even kids under twelve. It breaks my heart to see how most people in general buy into what ever crap the media puts out there. Do not get me wrong. I am no hater. Not by any means. But corporate america and the media will sell anything to our youth and obviously to adults as well. And the sad part … people (even parents) buy into that souless bull ****!!!

Splash? “your hood, your family, politics, love, friends and dancing” -Spartacus830 Great answer. And I know some New School artists with those subjects and I think this generas\tion is slowly bringing a better feeling to hip-hop, SLOWLY. It’s those damn shiny suit wearing Louis bag braggers in the damn 90′s who put hip-hop on a downward spiral. We just didn’t notice as much.

theres too big different between old n new…..the new isnt rap its called pop not rap…..the real new rap is underground rap……new rap is crap and the old is gold

  18. magich8ball says:

@nickerdee So true! Sugarhill was late 70′s/early 80′s there wasnt any of that stuff back then. You didn’t even have scratching when ‘Rappers Delight’ dropped. It took Grand Wizard Theodore to invent what we know as a scratch today and that was, what?, 82? 83?

  19. nickerdee says:

@SystematicSequence as he says, when HE came out there wasnt alot of sampling. hes not lying lol, this is the early 80s those guys in particular were recording with a live band!

  20. angelgirltcs says:

I think every artist bring something new whether it’s old school or new school.(It’s all art) We can’t keep doing the same thing forever so today even we still should try different things, and create better ideas and not live in the past. Old school is the foundation why not build off of it?

  21. SystematicSequence says:

That guy talking at 2:30 doesn’t know what’s he talking about. “Old school HipHop” was all about sampling, yet he says “there wasn’t alot of sampling. Another thing: technology is what pratically allowed HipHop to be what it was. The use of turntables enabled Djs to mix, scratch, and beat match songs thus HipHop rose.
Computers don’t have soul; it’s a matter of the person putting the soul for it.

  22. qwandiddy says:
