KRS ONE CONFRONTS MUSEUM
January 12th, 2011 | By
caddyone.bandcamp.com KRS1 speaks on behalf of the Hip Hop Pioneers (Afrika Bambaataa/Zulu nation and DJ,Kool Herc plus others) the reason why they are boycotting the National Museum of Hip Hop. April 6th 2010.. Original video borrowed from www.youtube.com Thank you for allowing us to place our temple logo on your video.. Its more than just recognition. Its about, housing, insurance, legal aid, as if they were retired employees of the museum. The pioneers are STILL ALIVE! and the museums treat them as if they were dead. If there important enough to create a museum for? then why not make sure there lights and gas stay on while there still alive?

tell them off KRS.. HOLE…
RIP GURU, OLE DIRTY BASTARD
@CaddyOne420 i really appreciate your response and respect your valid point. I couldn’t agree more when it comes to honoring our living legends as well as the deceased. We can see it right now with the unfortunate loss of GURU (RIP). I think there is an intellectual debate that can arise from what KRS is suggesting- should a Museum be forced to include these expenses in their mission… I look forward to hearing more from the museum and the fans.
@creativeconsulting1 @creativeconsulting1 The Zulu Nation is full of people who are educated and overstand this stuff. Trust, there is no lack of knowledge in the UZN.
@cchristi: Word yo, I barely even listen to anything that comes out these day’s.. all the same ****.
@DPerezmedia I doubt it takes care of rockers either, im sure there just happy to have their music stuck in a museum along with there image, for the purpose of the museums longevity. Basically what these rappers are standing against is the commercial exploitation one would see when a famous star or artists passes away, immediately there value skyrockets and everyone starts to profit from selling merchandise dealing with that person. Its a shame we only care when there dead.
@CaddyOne420 open question for this forum: what does the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum offer to its inductees? Do Run DMC get coverage from their honoring, by that instituion?
RIP GURU and in your name may good hiphop continue to be made becuase this music being made today is CRAP and complete GARBAGE!!!!
Rest in Peace KEITH ELAM (G.U.R.U.) of Gangstarr & Jazzmatazz
7/17/66 – 4/19/10
Maybe if artists like KEITH were given adequate healthcare & quality of life, he would’ve been able to win his bout with Cancer. Most of us musicians & DJ’s have been able to afford Health Insurance — Maybe things will change over time.
I am not holding my breath.
“Fuck the world, don’t ask me for sh*t…. everything you get, ya gotta work hard for it”!!!!
@AlHayta
How much money do you think hip hop makes?
id say billions.
Look at 50 cents new porsche boat with a 12 man crew to operate it.
Endowments and bequests from estates are a integral part of fund raising in the philanthropic non profit community. Become educated on endowments, bequests, estates, etc.
@AlHayta It is called endowments! Museums survive by large corporate endowments and individual contributions from people who bequest estates to museums. It is a multi-billion dollar industry. The raising of the money for museums and the friends of museums are huge part of philanthropy.
Mad respect to you KRS… You put yourself in the firing line for…brothers in the struggle to get paid. Yes-It is about money. Nothing more nothing less. No disrespect just calling it as it is. And to answer the obvious question…YES give them some doughnuts.
i feel what he saying if you’re gonna do it do it right and pay the people that contribute their lives to it cuz when it comes down to it those are the people that will make the museum what it is!
another example of a lot said without anything really being said…
KRS is the biggest idiot and HYPOCRITE in Hip Hop History…but I do agree with him and others on this issue. This so -called Hip Hop Museum should give back in some way….but it’s not gonna be able to provide healthcare to all the old school rappers. Do u know how many ex-rappers there are…WTF? where is the money coming from for that..as for the museum being a multi BILLION dollar concept…please explain that to me bcuz I don’t know ANY museum that has that type of revenue…
But in Austin Texas, if you are a practicing musician/artist you can get this: healthallianceforaustinmusicians (dot) org it’s not much but it is a start.
hiphop rulez!!!!! Texas doing that bullshit that Arizona done with Martin Luther King Day
God bless KRS. He knows what time it is on a higher level than pretty much ANY other person in the world (myself included, of course).
He’s got every reason in the world to boycott that bullshit museum. And I will give it no support either.
krs one is the **** ,I will back him up period period,we might have different opinions on hip hop but I will back krs one for ever period.True school hip hop here you dig!!!!!!!!!!!
@Skratch34 Oh, from Funky Four +1?
@louderthanabomb One of the pioneers in the background saying “I’m here” is Lil’ Rodney C, he’s the dude standing next to KRS-ONE at the end of the video.
who are the pioneers who say we are here in the background? I agree with the point because we all know Kool Herc ain’t livin like Lil Wayne or none of the others who are eating off his creation
